Why Upgrade Your NA Miata Lighting?

Factory NA Miata lighting relies on incandescent bulbs that are dim, power-hungry, and prone to failure over time. Upgrading to modern LED solutions provides brighter, more consistent illumination while reducing electrical load on your classic roadster’s charging system. Beyond functionality, strategic lighting upgrades add personalized style and improved nighttime usability.
Popular modifications include:
  • Full interior LED conversions for crisp, white illumination
  • Instrument cluster backlight upgrades for enhanced gauge readability
  • Subtle footwell or ambient lighting for a premium cabin feel
  • License plate light upgrades for improved visibility and style

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these LED kits fit both NA6 and NA8 models?

Yes, most interior and exterior LED upgrades are compatible with both NA6 and NA8 models. Bulb sizes are consistent across all NA Miata model years (1989–1997), though we recommend verifying your specific bulb types before ordering.

Will LED upgrades cause error codes or hyper-flashing?

Our CANBUS-error-free LED bulbs include built-in load resistors to prevent hyper-flashing on turn signal circuits and error messages on vehicles with bulb-out warning systems. For non-CANBUS vehicles, standard LEDs work perfectly.

Can I mix color temperatures in my Miata?

Absolutely. Many enthusiasts choose pure white (6000K) for task lighting (dome, glove box, trunk) and warm white (3000K) for ambient accents to create a layered, premium lighting scheme. Just ensure task lighting remains functional and non-distracting while driving.

Is professional installation recommended?

Most LED bulb replacements are simple plug-and-play upgrades requiring no tools beyond a small flathead screwdriver for trim removal. Complex installations like custom ambient lighting or switch panel backlighting may benefit from professional assistance for clean wire management.
